Terms of Use

Everything on Elgon Trial is educational material about gold (XAU/USD) trading; it is not advice and not an offer to buy or sell anything.

Educational material, not advice

The pages on this site are educational material. They explain how gold (XAU/USD) trading works, how costs are built, and how a broker is checked; they are not personal advice and not an offer to buy or sell any instrument.

We do not know your circumstances, your income or your obligations in Kenya, and nothing here is tailored to them. A decision to trade is yours, and it should be taken with the broker's own documents in front of you rather than with a page from this desk.

Limits of Liability in Plain Words

Elgon Trial is responsible for writing accurate educational content, and nothing more. We are not liable for trading losses, missed opportunities, platform outages, funding delays through M-Pesa, or any other financial outcome that follows from a decision you make. Markets move, leverage magnifies both gains and losses, and no article can remove that risk. By using this site you accept that you act on the information at your own discretion and that the consequences of any trade rest with you, not with Elgon Trial.

We take care to keep examples and calculations correct, but we do not warrant that every page is free of error or up to date at the moment you read it. Leverage caps, platform features and broker policies can change, and figures we were given at the time of writing may later be different. If you spot a mistake, tell us and we will correct it. Until then, treat every number as a starting point to verify against FxPro's own documents and your own account before you rely on it.

Our liability is limited to the extent the law allows. We are not responsible for indirect or consequential losses, including lost profits or damage to your trading record, and we are not liable for anything caused by events outside our control, such as internet failure, device faults or third-party service interruptions. This limit applies whether the claim arises in contract, in tort or otherwise, and it survives any change to these terms. It does not exclude any liability that Kenyan law does not permit us to exclude.

The Law That Applies to These Terms

These terms are governed by the laws of Kenya, and any dispute about them is subject to the jurisdiction of the Kenyan courts. That applies to the content we publish, the affiliate disclosure and the limits of liability described above. It does not govern your trading account: the contract for that is with FxPro under the entity that serves Kenya, and its own client agreement sets out which law and which courts apply to it. Reading this page does not change the legal basis of any trade you place.

Nothing on this site is intended to be a regulated financial service in Kenya. FxPro is licensed by the FCA (UK), CySEC and FSCA — not by the CMA of Kenya. That caveat matters for how you read our material: we are not offering portfolio management, investment advice or any service that requires a Kenyan licence, and the regulator here has not approved or reviewed this content. If you want the protections that come with a locally licensed product, check the status of any provider with the CMA before you commit money.

Where a provision of these terms conflicts with a mandatory rule of Kenyan law, the rule prevails and the rest of the terms continue to apply. If a clause is found unenforceable, it is treated as removed to the smallest extent necessary rather than as cancelling the whole page. The governing-law clause does not prevent you from raising a complaint through the channels FxPro provides, nor does it override any right you have under Kenyan consumer protection law that cannot be waived by agreement.

Verifying Broker Facts Before You Rely on Them

Every broker fact on this site should be checked against FxPro's own documents before you act on it. We describe the platforms as MT4, MT5, cTrader and the FxPro app because that is the information we were given, but platform availability, leverage caps and funding routes can change without notice to us. Your account's actual terms are set out in the client agreement and the product schedule you accept when you register, and those documents override anything written here if the two ever differ.

The leverage cap that applies to you is the cap for the entity serving Kenya, and it is a ceiling rather than a target. The worked figure of about $85.50 margin for a 0.10-lot gold position shows how that cap feeds into a margin calculation: 0.10 lot is 10 oz, and margin depends on the notional value of the position against the cap. Your own required margin will vary with the gold price, your account currency and any change in the cap, so calculate it in the platform before you open the trade.

Funding through M-Pesa is the route we describe for Kenyan readers, but the exact steps, limits and processing times depend on FxPro's current deposit instructions and on your mobile money provider. We do not quote a minimum deposit, a spread, a commission or a swap as a number because those depend on your account type and market conditions, and quoting one without a verified figure would mislead you. Confirm each cost inside the platform or in the client agreement before you fund an account.

Dated figures and affiliate links

Figures on this site are dated because they were read on a particular day, and they must be verified with the broker before you rely on them. Leverage caps, funding routes and platform availability change, and a page that was accurate when read can be out of date now.

Some links on this site are affiliate links, which means we may be paid a referral fee if you open an account through them. That fee does not change what you pay, and it does not make us a party to your account: your relationship is with the broker, under the broker's terms and the broker's regulator.

The risk is real and it is high

CFDs on gold carry a high risk of loss, and most retail accounts lose money. Leverage magnifies both directions: at the applicable cap a 0.10-lot gold position needs about $85.50 in margin, which means a small move in the price can wipe out a large share of what you put up.

Nothing on this site is a guarantee of any outcome, and no page should be read as one. If you cannot afford to lose the money you would deposit, the honest answer is not to deposit it.

How Changes to These Terms Are Published

Changes to these terms are published on this page, with the revised text replacing the old version and a new effective date shown at the top. We do not send individual notices for every edit, so the current version on the site is the one that applies from the moment it goes live. If a change affects the affiliate disclosure or the limits of liability, we will make that clear in the revised wording rather than leaving readers to compare versions line by line. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.

We aim to publish changes before they take effect, not after. Where a change is minor, such as a clarification of wording, it may appear without prior announcement; where it is material, we will try to give reasonable notice on the page itself. We do not backdate changes and we keep the previous wording available on request so you can see what applied when you relied on it. No change can alter the terms of a trade you have already placed with FxPro, because those are governed by your broker's agreement, not by this page.

If you do not agree with a revised version, your remedy is to stop using the site. You cannot opt out of a change while continuing to read the content, because the terms apply to the site as it currently stands. Any dispute that arose before a change is assessed under the version in force at the time it arose, so an amendment does not retrospectively affect a claim. Questions about a change can be sent to us through the contact route on the site, and we will explain what was altered and why.

What Elgon Trial Is and What It Is Not

Elgon Trial is an information service that publishes educational material about trading gold (XAU/USD) and using the FxPro platform. It is not a licensed investment adviser, a broker, or a fund manager, and nothing on the site is personal advice. Every article, example and calculation is generic and written for readers in Kenya who want to understand how instruments, margin and platforms work before risking their own money. You are the only person who can decide whether a trade suits your finances, your experience and your tolerance for loss.

The site is not a signal provider and does not tell you when to buy or sell. It does not manage money, hold client funds, or place orders on anyone's behalf. Any worked figures, such as the margin needed for a 0.10-lot gold position at the applicable leverage cap, are illustrations of how the calculation works, not recommendations to take that position. If you want advice tailored to your circumstances, speak to a professional who is authorised to give it in Kenya; this site cannot fill that role and does not try to.

Elgon Trial is also not a substitute for reading the legal documents of the broker you use. The terms on this page explain how we publish information and where our responsibility ends, but the contract for any trade is between you and FxPro, under the entity that serves Kenya. That entity's client agreement, risk disclosure and order execution policy govern your account, your margin and your complaints. Our material can help you understand those documents, but it does not replace them and does not create a client relationship with us.

The Affiliate Relationship, Stated in Full

Elgon Trial earns money through an affiliate relationship with FxPro. When a reader clicks a link from this site to FxPro and later opens and funds an account, FxPro may pay us a commission or a share of the revenue that account generates. That payment comes from FxPro, not from you, and it does not change the price you pay or the spread you are quoted. We state this openly so you can weigh our content knowing that we benefit financially when you choose FxPro rather than another broker.

The affiliate arrangement does not buy influence over what we write. We do not publish invented spreads, bonuses, minimum deposits or performance figures to make FxPro look better, and we do not hide the risks of gold trading because a commission might follow. Where a cost is not a fixed number, we say what it consists of and what it depends on instead of quoting a figure we were not given. Our editorial rule is that the explanation must stand on its own even if every affiliate link on the page were removed.

You are never obliged to use our links. If you prefer to reach FxPro directly, or to use a different broker altogether, the educational material on this site remains the same. We do not track whether you opened an account, and we do not receive your personal trading data from FxPro. The commission is a business arrangement between two companies; it does not make us your agent, your adviser or a party to your trades, and it does not give us any say over how your account is handled.

FAQ

Common questions

What exactly is Elgon Trial, legally?

Elgon Trial is a publishing desk that explains gold trading and provides calculators. It is not a broker, not an investment adviser and not a licensed financial services provider. Nothing on the site is a personal recommendation, an offer to trade or a solicitation to open an account with any firm.

How much can I lose trading gold with leverage?

You can lose more than you expect, and leverage magnifies both directions. At the applicable cap a 0.10-lot position needs about $85.50 margin, but margin is not your maximum loss; a moving market can take the position well past that. Never treat the margin figure as the amount at risk.

Is the broker mentioned on this site regulated in Kenya?

The broker we reference is FxPro, and the position is stated plainly: FxPro is licensed by the FCA (UK), CySEC and FSCA — not by the CMA of Kenya. You should satisfy yourself about which entity would hold your account and what protections that entity offers before you deposit any money.

Are the calculators a guarantee of what my broker will charge?

No. The calculators apply standard formulas using the inputs you provide, and they do not know your broker's spreads, commissions, swaps or execution. A margin or profit figure from this site is an estimate for planning, and the figure on your platform statement is the one that counts.

What law governs use of this site?

Use of the site is on the basis that you accept these terms as published, and that you are responsible for checking whether trading gold is permitted and suitable for you where you live. The desk accepts no liability for trading losses. If you do not accept these terms, do not use the site or its calculators.
