Privacy and What Happens to Your Numbers

The calculators on this site run in your browser, and the numbers you type into them are never sent to a server.

Calculators run in the browser

Every calculator on this site runs in your browser. The lot size, the price and the margin figures you enter stay on your device and are not transmitted to us or stored on a server, so we never see the positions you are testing.

This matters for gold (XAU/USD) because the numbers people enter — position size, account balance, the price near 4275.0 — reveal how much they are risking. Keeping that calculation local means the site can be useful without collecting it.

The cookie types on this site and the job each one does

This site uses three kinds of cookies: strictly necessary cookies that let the page load and keep your session working, preference cookies that remember choices such as dismissing the risk warning, and attribution cookies that record which broker link brought you to the site. Strictly necessary cookies cannot be switched off without breaking basic page functions. Preference and attribution cookies can be cleared from your browser at any time without affecting the calculators.

Attribution cookies exist so that if you follow a broker link and later open an account, the broker can tell that the visit came from this site. They carry a tag, not your trading history or your M-Pesa details. They are set only when you click a broker link, not on every page view. If you clear them, the broker may treat the visit as untagged, which affects any affiliate arrangement but does not change the terms you are offered or the regulator caveat that FxPro is licensed by the FCA (UK), CySEC and FSCA, not by the CMA of Kenya.

Preference cookies are the ones that remember that you have already seen the risk notice or that you prefer a particular display setting. They contain a simple flag and no personal data. None of these cookies are used to build a profile of you across other websites, and none are set for advertising networks. You can block or delete any of them through your browser settings; blocking the strictly necessary ones may stop the page from working correctly, while blocking the other two only resets your preferences and attribution tag.

How long data is kept and what causes deletion

Server logs are kept for a short rolling period for security and troubleshooting, after which they are deleted automatically. The exact period depends on the host's retention setting rather than a fixed number we publish, but it is measured in days or weeks, not years. Preference and attribution cookies expire on their own schedule: preference cookies last until you clear them or their set lifetime ends, and attribution cookies expire after the broker's attribution window. Clearing your browser storage deletes both immediately.

Calculator inputs are not kept at all, so there is no retention period to state for them. The moment you close or reload the page, the numbers are gone. That is why a margin figure such as the roughly $85.50 required for a 0.10-lot gold position at the applicable cap cannot be retrieved from us later. If you want a record of a calculation, save it yourself; the site will not hold it for you and cannot restore it after the tab is closed.

Deletion happens in three ways: automatic expiry of logs and cookies, manual clearing through your browser settings, and a request to us where the data is identifiable. A privacy request can accelerate deletion of log entries that match your IP address and date. We do not keep backups of calculator inputs because none are created. If you have followed a broker link, the attribution record on the broker's side is governed by the broker's retention policy, not this page.

Your rights over your data and the steps to use them

You have the right to ask what personal data this site holds about you, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object to any processing you are not comfortable with. In practice this site holds almost nothing that identifies you, so a request will usually return only server logs and cookie flags. To exercise a right, contact us through the details on the contact page and describe what you want; we will respond within a reasonable period and explain what was found or done.

Because the calculators do not store your inputs, there is usually no calculation history to delete. If you have cleared your browser cookies, the preference and attribution flags are already gone. If you want the server logs checked for your IP address, say so in your request and include the approximate date and time of your visit; we can look for matching entries and remove them where the law allows. We will not ask for your M-Pesa number or trading account details because we do not need them to handle a privacy request.

If you are not satisfied with the response, you can complain to the relevant data protection authority in Kenya. This site does not claim to be regulated by the CMA of Kenya for trading services, and the CMA is not a data protection regulator; the caveat about FxPro is separate. For broker-side data, including anything you submit during account opening or M-Pesa funding, the request must go to FxPro under its own policy. We will help you identify the right contact where we can.

What this site stores and what it never stores

This site stores only what is needed to load the page and remember basic preferences, such as a cookie that records that you have seen the risk notice and a cookie that keeps a broker link tagged for attribution. It does not store your name, email address, phone number, M-Pesa details, trading account numbers or any identity document. The calculators do not save the numbers you type, so a position size you calculate on gold (XAU/USD) is not written to a database or a file on the server.

This site never stores the amounts you enter into a calculator or the results those calculators produce. If you type a 0.10-lot gold position and the tool shows a margin requirement of about $85.50 at the applicable leverage cap, that figure exists only in the page while it is open. Closing the tab clears it. No copy is sent to us and no copy is kept in local storage, which is why you will need to re-enter the numbers if you reload the page.

This site does not store payment data of any kind because it does not process deposits or withdrawals. Any funding you do with a broker, including M-Pesa, happens on that broker's own systems and is governed by that broker's privacy terms, not this page. We also do not store KSh amounts, M-Pesa transaction codes or screenshots you might keep for your own records. The only persistent items are the small preference and attribution cookies described in the next section.

The third parties that receive data and what they receive

The third parties involved are the web host that serves the pages, the analytics service described later, and the broker FxPro when you follow a link. The host processes standard server logs such as the requested page, the time and an approximate location derived from the IP address; these logs are used for security and uptime, not for profiling. The analytics service receives page-view counts. FxPro receives the attribution tag and whatever you choose to submit on its own site, under its own privacy terms.

No other third parties receive data from this site. There are no advertising networks, no social media pixels and no data brokers. The calculators run in your browser and do not call an external service, so the numbers you type, including any KSh amounts you convert for your own reference, are not sent anywhere. The only outbound requests are for the page assets themselves and, if you click a broker link, the redirect to FxPro. That redirect carries the affiliate tag and the usual browser headers, nothing more.

Because FxPro is the broker named on this site, its own privacy policy governs what happens after you leave. That policy covers account opening, identity checks and M-Pesa funding, and it is separate from this page. The regulator caveat applies throughout: FxPro is licensed by the FCA (UK), CySEC and FSCA, not by the CMA of Kenya. We cannot answer for the broker's data practices, and we do not receive a copy of what you submit there.

Affiliate tracking stated in plain terms

This site can earn a commission if you open a trading account with FxPro after following a link from here. That is an affiliate arrangement, and it is stated plainly so you can weigh it. The commission is paid by the broker and does not add to what you pay; it does not change the spread, commission or swap on your account, and it does not change the leverage cap that applies to the entity serving Kenya. The cap remains a cap, not a target, and the margin figure for a 0.10-lot gold position stays about $85.50 at that cap.

Affiliate tracking works through a cookie set when you click a broker link. The cookie holds a tag that identifies this site as the referrer and expires after a period set by the broker, not by us. It does not contain your name, your M-Pesa number or your account balance. If you prefer not to be tracked, clear the cookie after clicking or use your browser's private mode; the broker will then see an untagged visit. Nothing about the regulator position changes: FxPro is licensed by the FCA (UK), CySEC and FSCA, not by the CMA of Kenya.

The commission arrangement does not give this site access to your account, your trades or your deposits. We do not receive a feed of your positions, your gold lot sizes or your M-Pesa funding records. We may see aggregate counts, such as how many people clicked a link, but not who they are. That separation is deliberate: the calculators and the educational pages are written to be useful whether or not you ever open a broker account, and the affiliate tag is a commercial footnote rather than a data channel.

Traffic counts, not profiles

We keep only aggregate traffic counts: how many visits a page received, not who visited it. We do not build reader profiles, we do not sell data, and we do not attempt to identify individual readers from their visits.

Aggregate numbers tell us which pages are being read and which are being ignored. They do not tell us anything about a person, and that is the level we intend to keep them at.

Local storage and broker cookies

Local storage on your device holds your own preferences — things like a saved calculator input or a display setting — so the site behaves the same way when you return. That storage sits on your device and you can clear it through your browser at any time.

A broker you reach through a link on this site sets its own cookies under its own policy. Those cookies are the broker's, not ours, and what they collect and how long they keep it is described in that broker's privacy notice, which is worth reading before you open an account.

FAQ

Common questions

What does Elgon Trial collect when I use the calculators?

The calculators run the arithmetic you enter, such as lot size, entry price and leverage cap, to produce a result. Those entries are not a trading account and are not sent to a broker. Standard server logs may record the page requested and a rough location, which is used to keep the site working, not to profile you.

Do you ask for my M-Pesa number or broker login?

No. The desk never asks for an M-Pesa number, a PIN, a broker username or a password, and there is no reason it would need them. If a message claims to be from Elgon Trial and requests any of these, it is not from us. Treat it as a phishing attempt and do not respond.

What happens if I click a link to a broker from this site?

You leave our site and arrive at the broker's own pages, where that broker's privacy policy applies instead of ours. A referral link may carry a code that tells the broker the visit came from here. What the broker then collects, and how it is stored, is set by the broker, not by this desk.

Are cookies used on the site?

The site may use cookies for basic functions such as remembering a calculator input or counting page visits in aggregate. They are not used to build a trading profile. You can block or clear cookies in your browser settings, and the guides and calculators will still work, though a saved input may not persist.

Can I ask for my data to be deleted?

If you have sent a message through the contact form and want it removed, say so in a follow-up and we will delete the correspondence we hold. Note that we cannot delete anything held by a broker you have opened an account with; that request must go to the broker under its own policy.
